Neil deGrasse Tyson oozes 3 email marketing nuggets...

You don’t have to know stink about Science or the Universe to love listening to Neil deGrasse Tyson talk about it.

But if you’re a marketer looking to sell your products or services…

There are some cool things he always does differently than the average person.

You see…

I haven’t met the man myself.

But I’ve noticed and I’m sure you’ll appreciate that he’s just…

A wee bit different from the average Scientist.

He's the astrophysicist who has become a household name in the science world.

There’s countless YouTube videos, Podcasts, and of course his Twitter profile is stellar. ;-)

But did you know that he's also a marketing genius?

I don't mean you’re going to see him speaking at an AdWorld conference…

And you won’t see him on stage next to Ryan Deiss.

The thing is…

It’s obvious that he’s an expert at communication in general and…

It shows in everything he says.

So let’s break down Mr. Tyson’s abilities and see how we use them in our email marketing.

1. Neil Degrasse Tyson is an outstanding teacher (communicator).

He’s able to explain mind-bending concepts like Black Holes and Supernovas in a simple manner.

Side note…

I’m not saying I fully understand everything he’s saying…

But gawd damn I want to hear more.

Seeing him and hearing him speak…

He doesn't sound like a “Scientist”.

He sounds like a regular guy who…

Also happens to be really smart.

So when it comes to your marketing and copy…

Are you doing the same in your emails?

Are you translating technical mumbo jumbo…

Into understandable terms that also TEACH and ENTERTAIN at the same time?

Are you delivering your message with passion and enthusiasm like Neil?

2. He’s likable and approachable

He sounds accessible and friendly.

Like someone you could have pizza, beer and wings with friendly.

And when it comes down to it…

People want to spend their time listening to him talk because they think it'll be fun — not intimidating or boring!

Most marketing emails make me want to pop some pills and take a nap.

But when Neil’s in the area…

You feel like you could approach him at any time and have a meaningful and great conversation.

Which makes people want to come back for more!

Can you say that about your emails?

One of the most important things you can do as a marketer….

Is to make sure people are interested in what you have to say.

And one of the best ways to do that?

Make your emails and copy simple, fun, and approachable.

3. He’s 100% authentic

If you’ve listened to Neil speak or even watched a few of his videos..

You know he’s giving every question and answer 100% of himself.

He’s not holding back.

And the best part?

He does it in a way that’s kind.

Even if gets an oddball question that he disagrees with…

He never talks down to you, no matter how simple your question may seem.

Why is that important?

Because you’ve heard it a zillion times now.

The inbox is flooded - blah blah.

And with so much information and so many people trying to get your attention…

It's crucial that you're able to explain what's new and interesting about your product or service.
